At Prosthodontics of Princeton we use cutting-edge dental technology to provide you with safe, fast, and effective results!
In the past, most dental professionals had to use the traditional x-ray systems, which require film development. These days, we use digital x-rays due to their many benefits. A digital x-ray is safer and much quicker than its film predecessor. The digital X-ray sensor is able to record the diagnostic x-ray information at greatly reduced radiation levels thus making it a much safer option than conventional analog x-rays. The digital x-ray is also far superior in its diagnostic value as the image is much larger and allows the dentist the ability to vary the image density for optimal viewing capabilities. Digital x-rays are a crucial diagnostic tool that helps us gain a better understanding of the inner workings of your mouth, more specifically the teeth, roots, and alveolar bone.
A digital panorex is also a valuable diagnostic tool. Although not as valuable as individual digital x-rays for evaluating specific teeth, the digital panorex plays an important part in our evaluation of the overall view of the dental complex. The digital panorex allows us to help evaluate wisdom teeth impactions, TMJ disturbances, and any pathology that might be present throughout the jaw bones . As with digital x-rays, the digital panorex provides this information at greatly reduced radiation levels.
At Prosthodontics of Princeton, we are utilizing the most revolutionary, technological advances by employing the CEREC digital scanner for capturing images of your mouth onto the computer screen. This technology allows us to do many things that have been previously unavailable. In the past, in order to obtain a model of your mouth, we needed to use messy impression materials to accomplish this task. With digital scanning, we are able to record your top and bottom teeth with a hand held camera that looks like a magic wand. This technology offers many benefits to the patient:
With the CEREC Primemill, the dentists at Prosthodontics of Princeton are able to provide in-office fabrication of porcelain crowns and other porcelain restorative procedures. This 3-D printing keeps Prosthodontics of Princeton on the cutting edge of dental technology. After capturing the digital image with our CEREC digital scanner, the digital information is sent to the CEREC Primemill for porcelain milling. With robotic precision, the CEREC Primemill is able to carve the porcelain restoration specifically designed for your mouth.
